Prevent Cargo Theft

No matter what industry, cargo theft is an unexpected, costly hassle. Fleet managers can put preventative measures in place to combat cargo theft by securing vehicles.

The easiest way to ensure the safety of cargo is with a secure service body. Most vehicles are equipped with heavy-duty locking mechanisms, and service bodies should not be an exception. Load'N'Go service bodies by Fleetwest Transferable Truck Bodies are equipped with stainless steel, double locking T-handles, and made to protect expensive cargo from both theft and weather damage.

The ST-2000 by Fleetwest Transferable Truck Bodies is the newest Load'N'Go model.  All Load'N'Go service bodies are fully transferable on-and off the bed of a pickup truck in minutes.  They can be transferred from one pickup to another with optional four-corner lifting jacks, a crane, or a forklift via the built-in forklift tunnels. The ST-2000 is a universal fit for all the major makes of pickup trucks such as Chevy, Dodge, and Ford. Some of the new features available on the ST-2000 include a barn door configuration with double panel doors for additional security, a solid fixed top, and durable spray-in bed liner. Watch the YouTube video below to see the ST-2000 in action.

Dodge EcoDiesel available in Ram 1500

Chrysler is ramping up production of the EcoDiesel engine for the Ram 1500, as demand has far out paced availability.  Chrysler now expects about 20 percent of Ram 1500s will be sold with the EcoDiesel engine for the 2015 model year.

That's double the original estimates...

Chrysler forecasted that only 10 percent of buyers would opt for the Diesel when it launched earlier this year. Then more than 8,000 orders poured in during the first three days the engine was available, which filled the initial allocation.

"The demand is there for this product, and customers have asked for it," said Bob Hegbloom, CEO of the Ram truck brand.

Recognizing the pent-up demand has allowed the Ram EcoDiesel to take off, filling a void in the marketplace," says Dave Sullivan, manager of product analysis for automotive research firm, AutoPacific.

"The Ram diesel is a sales success and actually a very refined powertrain," he said in an email. "It isn't some Frankenstein oddball engine. It feels like it was plucked out of the Audi A8. It's quiet, torquey, efficient and doesn't necessarily break the bank. The price walk from the Hemi V8 to the diesel is actually reasonable."

The EcoDiesel is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 rated at 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Equipped with the Diesel, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 9,200 pounds, yet it still achieves an incredible 28 miles per gallon on the highway. The engine is sourced through Fiat's VM Motori venture, and the production increases will be online at both Ram factories, in Warren, MI, and Saltillo, Mexico, by the end of November.

"Plus, the engine drives smoothly and returns real-world fuel economy that's often better than the EPA label.
"With the eight-speed transmission, it offers a level of refinement that would feel at home on the autobahn," he said. "If Audi were to make a pickup truck, this would be the one to benchmark." Sullivan noted.

Chrysler is the only company to offer a diesel engine in a light-duty pickup.
Ford and General Motors should follow suit in the years to come as the evidence for demand in the market place is clear as 1/2 ton trucks are being utilized more and more by small and large fleets alike.

A great addition to ramp up your pickup would be the Load'N'Go ST2000.  It’s secure, heavy-duty, and transferable, on and off a pickup truck in minutes allowing you to transfer your tools and supplies from one truck to another without unloading.  It fits most standard pickup truck models and is light enough to fit 1/2 ton pickups.  The Load'N'Go ST200 pictured below needs no holes drilled to install and provides additional storage, flexibility, and efficiency allowing you to work smarter, not harder.

Future for Fleet Trucks

In 2013, Natural Gas Experts in Texas and Louisiana, launched their DuraDrive bi-fuel for fleet trucks.  Now they have announced that they have delivered the first natural gas half-ton pickup trucks, according to Hard Working Trucks.  Nat G CNG Solutions delivered 2015 model vehicles to a local business in Houston and San Antonio with a General Motors’ 5.3 liter direct injection engine.  This allowed for each fleet to be upgraded to run on either natural gas or gasoline using the DuraDrive natural gas system.  During the testing, the DuraDrive set a record for efficiency on an eight-cylinder natural gas truck by achieving 23 miles per gallon.  The CEO of one of the company’s that took part in the testing stated, “It’s just a no brainer, the savings are incredible,” in reference to their gas bill.

To further enhance your fleets savings look into the Load'N'Go ST-2000 by Fleetwest Transferable Truck Bodies.  It is light enough for aluminum-body pickup trucks and ideal for continuous fuel and maintenance fleet savings. Load'N'Go truck bodies are completely transferable, on and off a pickup truck in minutes with no-holes-drilled installation. This means flexibility and higher overall value for fleets. An optional 1000 lb capacity drawer can be added to the Load'N'Go ST-2000 to provide extra organized storage in addition to the double-locking side compartments.
