Green Work Trucks

One day being 'green' will seem as commonplace as safety practices within fleets. Much like the awards presented to companies for safe practices, Green awards are given for the leaders in efficient energy. CNG powered machinery ranging from concrete mixers, dump trucks, and tractors are helping fleets to increase environmentally sound practices.

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced a truck voucher incentive program that will provide 19 million dollars for electric-battery, hybrid, and CNG commercial trucks. This energy efficient transportation is intended to lower the carbon footprint of New York and meet clean air standards. 9 million dollars will go towards battery-electric vehicles for 30 counties that did not meet federal clean air standards. The remaining 10 million is for electric-battery, hybrid, and CNG commercial trucks in New York City.

The mayor would like to encourage the deployment of advanced vehicle technology. The voucher will also provide emissions control devises for diesel engines in order to lower New York's carbon footprint. The incentive is being administered by New York State Energy Resource and Development Authority. The commercial trucks are class 3-8 and include large pickup trucks.

Lightweight service bodies are ideal in order to create a 'green work truck'. Not only will having an energy efficient vehicle reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs, but it also shines a positive light on companies because they are environmentally conscious. Fleetwest Transferable Truck Bodies offer the Durashell, a lightweight fiberglass composite service body. This service body is durable, yet lightweight so it will not add unnecessary pounds to a work truck.
